In between seasons of Mov(i)e Activism

We are proud to announce that the first season of the Film Festival Mov(i)e Activism has successfully come to its end. The final event took place in Berlin and gathered more than 200 visitors. The topics covered during three nights of documentaries and discussions spanned from student activism in Portugal and Croatia, students and workers movements in Bologna, stories of individuals, and all the way to events in the Balkan region in the 90’s. Furthermore, there was a night dedicated to different living projects around Europe, which was of great interest to the local community.

First of all, we would like to thank once more all the supporters and volunteers that helped us organising Berlin Mov(i)e Activism 2017. Also, a big thank you to all the guests and filmmakers that made the whole thing possible and, last but not least, to all of you that were there to watch movies with us. We are looking forward to meeting you again to share stories and ideas!

The launch of the second season of Mov(i)e Activism is approaching fast, we are ready to roll again. Therefore, our organisation team is working hard to make it even better this time. Since the period for submitting movies over the FilmFreeway platform terminated last month, we are ready for the next step.

SELECTION OF DOCUMENTARIES FOR THE SECOND SEASON OF THE FESTIVAL

Especially relevant for the open-mindedness of the festival is the selection process. Hence, different local organisation groups pick their favourites from a previously created pool following their own criteria. This happens because the festival aims to promote a natural orientation towards locally relevant issues. However, this differentiation among locations comes with a unifying agent. In fact, the different groups have a goal in common: promoting active participation through self-organisation and direct action.

Therefore, the first selection of movies will be a preliminary one, which will filter for relevant materials that local groups will consider for screening later-on. We will publish the titles of the movies that will enter the pool on this site in October, before the very start of the first event of the second season. The opening event will take place in Coimbra, Portugal, where the Coimbra Mov(i)e Activism 2017 will be the first of 7 stops of our activist cinematography caravan.
